Ames Brown is chairman and executive vice president of the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, a research institute based in Austin, Texas. He researches and writes about higher education reform.

Mr. Brown has also served as chief investment officer of Capital Counsel Management LLC since 2014. As CIO of Capital Counsel Management, Mr. Brown holds ultimate responsibility for a large portfolio of global investments in oil, gas, mining, and financial services. He also serves on the board of directors of Energy Fuels, Inc. (ticker: UUUU).

Mr. Brown holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Strategic Communications from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale University, and completed two years of doctoral studies in financial accounting at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
