University-based centers often start off with many competitive advantages as compared to many think tank kick starters in their access to academic resource, established research credibility and unique channels for influencing policies. How do you build a successful fundraising strategy for a university-based center? How to communicate with donors on policy impact? How to cultivate and grow a donor base through research activities?

As one of the early members of the fundraising team and the Senior Director of Development at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, Daniel Butler will discuss with you in this webinar the nuts and bolts of fundraising strategy and capacity building for University-based Research Centers, as well as strategies engaging a policy research inspired giving circle. Daniel Butler is the Senior Director of Development at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He joined Mercatus after spending four years trading ETF’s on the floor of the American Stock Exchange for Bailer Trading LLC. Mr. Butler is a native of Indiana and attended the University of Pennsylvania.
