ATLAS NETWORK ACADEMY

ATLAS NETWORK ACADEMY

What is the Atlas Network Academy (ANA)?

The Atlas Network Academy provides a robust series of training opportunities that allow you to sharpen your skills in think tank operations, marketing & communications, fundraising, and personal leadership.  We offer a variety of online and in-person programs designed for think tank professionals at every level.

You’re in the business of changing the world, and we’re here to help. We want to connect you with resources, best practices, tools, and mentors to help you and your organization achieve their mission. Our experienced team is here to help you reach your goals.

What happened to the Atlas Leadership Academy (ALA)?

In 2020 we restructured what was formerly known as the Atlas Leadership Academy to become the Atlas Network Academy. We made this change because our offerings go beyond just “Leadership” programs -- we offer a variety of programs in think tank operations, marketing & communications, fundraising, and leadership development.

Under the Atlas Leadership Academy, learners completed courses with the goal of reaching 12 credits and becoming an “ALA Graduate”. With our transition to the Atlas Network Academy, we have also transitioned to a Certification based system. Learners will now have the opportunity to earn online and Master’s certifications in areas including Think Tank Foundations, Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, and Leadership.

What does this change mean for me if I am an ALA Graduate?

If you were an ALA Graduate under the old system and you have not engaged in an Atlas Network program in the last year, your credits were not transferred. We encourage you to get started on one of our many new course offerings in the Think Tank Foundations, Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, and Leadership tracks.

Did I lose ALA credits that I earned if I did not graduate?

If you completed Think Tank Fundamentals (formerly known as Think Tank Basics), Leader Lab, or Executive Accelerator those will be marked under the corresponding tracks. In order to receive your certification in that track, you will need to complete the other necessary courses.

We will not be moving over credits for webinars, Think Tank Navigator, Think Tank Impact, the Strategic MarCom Rethink, or any other online or in-person courses not listed above.

Is Atlas Network Academy still a credit based system?

No, Atlas Network Academy is now a certification based system. There are  certificates in the tracks of Think Tank Foundations, Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, and Leadership.

Certifications are composed of online courses, instructor-led courses, and selected webinars designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of each area, provide helpful tools and best practices to apply in their own work, and help learners think bigger about how their work contributes to the broader mission of their organization. The Think Tank Foundations Certification includes an in-person training component.

Master’s Certifications for Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, and Leadership rely on intensive in-person training, and will be offered to our partner organizations on an invite only basis.

How much does it cost to participate?

General participation in the Atlas Network Academy is offered free of charge to you. However, each in person training opportunity does have some cost associated with the program such as travel costs to the program or a registration fee. Currently only our Executive Accelerator program and Lights, Camera, Liberty workshop have associated program fees. Programs we are able to offer at such reduced fees are thanks to the generosity of our donors.

If you have any questions about program fees or travel costs for an in person training program, please feel free to contact us at training@atlasnetwork.org with any questions.

The programs you currently offer don't fit my needs. Can I suggest a topic?

Yes! We welcome your feedback and suggestions. Please email us at training@atlasnetwork.org with your suggestions.

Why should I participate in Atlas Network Academy?

Certifications and individual courses within the Atlas Network Academy are designed to provide rigorous, practical and useful training to individuals working to advance liberty through a think tank. Courses include interactive elements that allow you to learn by doing – and are designed to relate directly to your think tank work. Individuals participating in the Atlas Network Academy demonstrate their commitment to building a strong, impactful think tank, and are eligible for grants and other opportunities through the Atlas Network.

Do I have to complete courses in Atlas Network Academy to apply for a grant with Atlas Network?

When grant applications are reviewed strong preference is given to organizations and/ or individuals that have completed courses in the Atlas Network Academy.

If you have any questions about this please feel free to contact our Institute Relations Team at Casey.Pifer@AtlasNetwork.org or Jack.Shannon@AtlasNetwork.org.

Do you have to work for a think tank or be an Atlas Network partner to participate in Atlas Network Academy?

No, you do not have to work for an established think tank to participate in the Atlas Network Academy. Many individuals with the goal of establishing their own organization, or who just have an interest in the work of free market think tanks have participated in the Atlas Network Academy.

However, our in-person programs are invitation-to-apply only and the Atlas Network Academy team will reach out to eligible applicants based on this criteria:

  • Work for Atlas Network partner organizations or who work for organizations that have expressed interest in becoming an Atlas Network partner and;
  • Are aligned with our vision of a free, prosperous, and peaceful world where the principles of individual liberty, property rights, limited government, and free markets are secured by the rule of law.

If you have questions about becoming an Atlas Network partner, please visit atlasnetwork.org/page/become-a-partner for more information.

What are master's certifications and how can I enroll in one of those?

ANA Master’s Certifications are premium training opportunities offered by Atlas Network Academy. These programs are reliant on in-person engagement which constitutes a greater investment by our team and our generous donors. For those reasons, invitations to apply for these programs are available only to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Work for Atlas Network partner organizations or who work for organizations that have expressed interest in becoming an Atlas Network partner and;
  • Are aligned with our vision of a free, prosperous, and peaceful world where the principles of individual liberty, property rights, limited government, and free markets are secured by the rule of law.

Placements for these programs will be highly competitive and decided only by Atlas Network personnel. If you have questions about becoming an Atlas Network partner, please visit www.atlasnetwork.org/page/become-a-partner for more information.

Why can't I see all of the courses available in a given certification on the Atlas Network Academy website?

The certifications in the Atlas Network Academy website are designed for you to take in order of Fundamentals, required webinars, Theory & Practice, and conclude with the 360. You must first complete the Fundamentals course and the required webinars for all certifications in order to access the Theory & Practice course. Once you complete those pre-requisites, the Theory & Practice course will become visible to you on the certification page. The 360 courses for each certification are invitation to apply only. If you are accepted to that in-person program, that course will be added to your My Atlas Network Academy page for you to access the course materials.

If you have any additional questions or if you run into any problems accessing courses on the Atlas Network Academy website, please email us at training@atlasnetwork.org.
