Dr. Gabriel Calzada is the president of Universidad Francisco Marroquín (UFM) in Guatemala, the only university in the world explicitly founded to teach the principles of a free society. He is also CEO of OMMA in Madrid, an innovative online business school that uses Austrian economics and other free-market schools to analyze financial markets. Calzada is the founder and former president of the Instituto Juan de Mariana, a libertarian think tank based in Spain. He has been Associate Professor of Economics at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain since 2004, where he received his doctorate in economics. He has been vice-director of the scholarly Procesos de Mercado and a Rowley Fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute. He is also a member of the Mont Perelin Society. On many occasions, Calzada has been invited to testify before Congress and the Senate on energy policy and the environment. He frequently appears on television broadcasts and has written for publications including Libertad Digital, the Spanish Herald, Expanses, Mises Daily, the Journal of Libertarian Studies, Procesos de Mercados, El Mundo, Epoca, La Ilustracion Liberal, Canarias Liberal, and the Washington Times.
