Public policy research and economic education are only one small part of increasing freedom and liberty in Costa Rica. Inspired by the Foundation for Economic Education’s (FEE) Blinking Lights Project, Atlas Network partner IDEAS, of Costa Rica, recently launched its own “Luces de Esperanza” program and event featuring FEE President Larry Reed as keynote speaker and a presentation of the Spanish translation of Reed’s book, Are We Good Enough for Liberty?

Luces de Esperanza, a business development and social action program aimed at promoting entrepreneurial culture, principles, values, ethics, and the importance of free expression, works with young people in their last two years of high school or first year of college throughout Costa Rica.

In his speech at the program’s launch event, Reed said, “Freedom and personal character are two sides of the same coin.”
