On June 26, Canada’s Fraser Institute published findings of its 2014 Economic Freedom of the World Report, titled “Free Markets and Civil Peace: Some Theory and Empirical Evidence.” In it, Fraser scholars empirically and theoretically examine war and peace, finding that the level of economic freedom a country enjoys is directly correlated with the level of peace a country enjoys. The Fraser Institute has shown that free trade is an effective way of maintaining global peace and security.
