Network Associate, Institute Relations

Atlas Network partners with over 500 think tanks in more than 100 countries across the globe to drive change in ideas, culture, and policy; remove barriers to opportunities; and empower individuals to live a life of choice. The Atlas Network’s Institute Relations department plays a key role in the organization’s efforts to strengthen and grow its network of independent partner by building authentic relationships with think tank leaders, making strategic grant investments in the work of those think tanks, facilitating their engagement with Atlas Network’s broad selection of training, networking, grants, and award programs, and providing personalized consultation related to think tank excellence and strategy.

The Institute Relations Associate is primarily responsible for actively organizing the flow of information from network partner organizations and serving as a key contributor that informs Atlas Network’s efforts to provide relevant, timely, and high quality programs and services to the network.

With an emphasis on the network and partnership pipeline, this Institute Relations Associate’s areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Network and Partnership Pipeline
    • Develop and/or strengthen relationships with potential and new partners and grantees via online and in-person methods

    • Manage Atlas Network’s partner global directory, which includes orienting new partners and assessing Atlas Network’s current partner relationships

    • Seek out and identify possible up-and-coming or new-to-us organizations that could be valuable additions to the network, conducting meetings with them to understand their work, and assessing whether their work is a fit for Atlas Network

  • Data Integrity
    • The opportunity to develop a new system for logging important staff interactions with partners, as well as for recording and sharing informative updates about partners in the network

    • Maintain a rolling series of online applications and renewals, and ensure timely and accurate database records for the content

    • Serve in a key customer service role with the users of our Applications Portal system

    • Perform data entry and quality control on multiple databases

  • Program Support
    • Provide support to the grants process, including reviewing applications, drafting agreements, and ensuring proper disbursement of grants

    • Provide support to the awards process, including application recruitment, collation, and summary, as well as coordination with award finalists and winners about travel arrangements and prize distribution

    • Lead the travel grantmaking process, which supports the attendance of partner organizations at Atlas Network’s training opportunities and five annual conferences around the world

This position works closely with all members of the institute relations team. This position is located at Atlas Network headquarters in Arlington, VA.
