Atlas Network is sad to have lost a few great friends and allies in Carolina Bolívar from Mexico, Rafael Merchán from Colombia, and Roberto Villacreces from Ecuador.

Carolina Bolívar created and led the Instituto Cultural Ludwig Von Mises (ICUMI) in Mexico and was a pillar in the Latin American community. Bolívar advocated for a free, prosperous, and supportive society for Mexico as well as participated in many freedom and anti-corruption movements. She was loved and admired by many in her years of advocacy.

Rafael Merchán was the president of the Instituto de Ciencias de Políticas (ICP) in the early 2000s and one of the creators of Perspectiva Magazine; an interesting project focused on publishing a high-quality magazine sold commercially in the countries of the Latin American region. Among the most recent positions he had was his time at the Secretariat of Transparency of the Presidency of the Republic, between 2014 and 2015, under the administration of Juan Manuel Santos, and was later appointed consul of Colombia in London.

Roberto Villacreces was part of the Instituto Ecuatoriano de Economia Politica (IEEP) team in Ecuador. After IEEP, Villacreces continued his work in the freedom movement by working under the leadership of Pablo Arosemena in the chamber of commerce of Guayaquil. Roberto is described by his friends and loves ones, as well as some of our Atlas Network colleagues who worked with Roberto directly, as a great and dedicated economist whose work in the liberty movement will be missed.
