Are you aware that Indonesia has 260 million inhabitants, and the fourth-largest population in the world — following only China, India, and the United States? Unfortunately, almost half of all Indonesians struggle to avoid poverty and to make a decent living. Like so many philanthropists, non-profits, and even governments, you may also wonder: How can we end poverty in our world? Some resort to economic protectionism others to charity but, in the end, only Economic Freedom is proven to create long-term wealth and allows people to escape poverty.
That is why Rainer Heufers and his Indonesian partners founded the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS) in Jakarta, Indonesia. CIPS is a think tank that addresses decision-makers in the Indonesian government with policy proposals that are based on the belief that only civil, political, and economic freedom allows Indonesia to prosper. In 2016 CIPS won Atlas Network's Think Tank Shark Tank Competition seeking support for its advocacy efforts for lower Indonesian food prices through open markets.
