This is a landing page that provides links to items mentioned in the second issue of Brad Lips' informal Freedom at 36,000 Feet newsletter (click here to download a PDF version).
Our Tiny Archive - Issue 1 from July 2023 and its associated landing page
Are You Smarter than a Chimp? - Here's the TED Talk by Hans Rosling about how many people are misled to be blind to many very positive trends in our world. I suspect most Atlas Network donors know better!
Our Adversaries - Here's the (somewhat insane) hit piece on us that appeared in The New Republic and Magatte's engagement with one of the authors.
Free Market Advocates Addressing Environmental Concerns - I also love this PERC book from back in 1991, Free Market Environmentalism, which was my introduction to sound thinking about how our principles apply to enviro challenges. American Conservation Coalition is the Smart Bets grantee that I mentioned re: its growing presence on university chapters, and was the first one to make a pitch within our Virtual Pitch Competition on September 27. The recording of that event is here.
Education in the Age of AI - Here's the TED talk I mentioned by Sal Khan about Khamigo
Radical Innovation - Here's Bitcoin Policy Institute's reshare of our announcement of their big win at our crypto and blockchain-focused Think Tank Shark Tank competition at Universidad de la Libertad. You'll also want to check out the F.A. Hayek interview from 1984 where he seems to anticipate Bitcoin.
Greece - Here's the NYT piece: “Greece, Battered a Decade Ago, Is Booming” and a link to our partner KEFiM.
U.S. Entitlement Reform - Here's George Will in The Washington Post, “A fiscal crisis awaits. Here’s a provocative idea for heading it off, on Romina Boccia's idea for a BRAC style approach to getting our public debt under control.
Rich Men North of Richmond - In case you managed to miss this #1 hit from out of nowhere, here's the original song by Chris Lunsford, who records as Oliver Anthony. Libertarian comedian Remy did a pretty great "Response Video" that pokes fun at our federal bureaucrats. In this section, I also mentioned my (really good I promise!) Atlas in Memphis music playlist hosted on Spotify. I made it when Atlas Network was in Memphis for this FreedomFest panel with Tom Palmer and Magatte Wade (with an intro from former MTV star Kennedy!) and other activities in July.
What to Do? - I mentioned how our training programs are helping along lots of talented people who could do big things for liberty. New Zealand's David Seymour, covered here in the Washington Post is an example.
40 Years Ago... - Here is my short article reflecting on the 40th anniversary of Atlas Network's first workshop and a PDF of the Do's and Don'ts Manual that Dorian Fisher created out of its notes.
What I Saw in South Africa -- Here is a great session from our 2023 Africa Liberty Forum about the high-stakes election coming up next year in South Africa. Here is the story I wrote in Newsweek after Africa Liberty Forum: Liberty Lost—Nigeria's David Hundeyin Underscores Need for Reform Across Africa. Finally, let me share the copy of this summer's Freedom's Champion magazine which includes a wonderful interview with Temba Nolutshungu.
Finally, if you've read to the bottom of this page, you are the type of person who values Atlas Network enough to attend our 2023 Liberty Forum and Freedom Dinner and/or to donate generously to keep the momentum behind our efforts.
